Join us! NIADA National Policy Conference 2025, September 15-16, Washington, DC

The MidAtlantic IADA invites you to join our Deputy Executive Director, Kathy Sabaski, in Washington, DC, September 15-16, for the NIADA National Policy Conference 2025.

The NIADA National Policy Conference is the Independent Automotive Industry’s most significant opportunity to advocate with our National Legislators on behalf of independent dealerships and automotive-related businesses. Together with your peers and members of the NIADA Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee, you will meet face-to-face with the members of Congress that represent you and share our position on the issues that impact YOUR business.

Interested in attending just to see what it’s about? First-time jitters? Don’t worry! NIADA handles everything. You will be briefed on the below policy issues by NIADA staff and Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee members, visit the Congressmen’s and Senator’s offices with Kathy (or another Committee member/NIADA representative, if we have enough people to take multiple teams to “the Hill”), and be given packets of position papers to share with the offices you visit.
💥Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, there is A LOT of walking!

This year, NIADA has chosen four HOT policy issues to discuss with our Legislators:

  • H.R. 1566 and S. 1379, the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act, which would remove current access restrictions set forth by Original Equipment Manufacturers and give consumers the right to have access to their vehicle data and the ability to use independent repair shops and aftermarket parts.
  • S. 2238, the Preventing Auto Recycling Theft (PART) Act, which would stem the flow of the illicit catalytic converter sales by requiring stamped identifying serial numbers on each component; require recordkeeping for entities that purchase catalytic converters to aid law enforcement efforts to disrupt illegal sales; and, establish federal criminal penalties for theft, unlawful sale, or trafficking of stolen catalytic converters.
  • H.R. 1652, the Rectifying Undefined Descriptions of Abusive Acts and Practices (Rectifying UDAAP) Act, which would require the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to define what constitutes an “abusive act or practice,” exclude discriminatory practices from the definition of UDAAP, and establish clear policies and procedures for imposing monetary penalties.
  • H.R. 654, the Taking Account of Bureaucrats’ Spending (TABS) Act, which would restructure the CFPB as an empowerment agency, take it out of the Federal Reserve System, and place the CFPB’s funding under the congressional appropriations process.

In addition to the work we do with the Legislators, there is a bit of downtime to network with dealers both in our area and throughout the country, a PAC Fund dinner and briefings from both government officials from the FTC and other experts on the state of the industry.

IMPORTANT: Registration is just $100 per attendee, but you MUST register by August 19 to ensure NIADA has sufficient time to arrange meetings with your specific legislators.

Hotel rate at the Omni Shoreham is $299 per night through August 19 or until the room block is sold out. Book the hotel here.

Join us in Washington, D.C., for the industry’s political advocacy event of the year, the National Policy Conference!

The more of a presence we bring, the more seriously the Legislators take us! Please strongly consider joining us if your schedule at all allows. See you there!
