VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Tax Max Enters Its 31st Season with Major Program Enhancements

Tax Max is leveling up its game for the 31st tax season, helping dealers tap into bigger customer refunds and boost sales. With some hefty refunds on the horizon, now’s the time for dealers to get their strategies in shape!

VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Tax Max Enters Its 31st Season with Major Program Enhancements

After three decades of serving automotive dealers, Tax Max is approaching its 31st tax season with significant changes designed to help dealerships capitalize on what could be an extraordinary refund year. The transformation reflects the company's commitment to evolving alongside the needs of its dealer partners during the most critical time of their year.

Understanding Dealer Needs
The catalyst for Tax Max's recent overhaul came from a deliberate effort to understand the dealer experience. The company's leadership team examined what dealerships must accomplish when integrating Tax Max into their existing processes and solicited direct feedback about improvements dealers wanted to see across all aspects of the program.

Four Pillars of the Tax Max Program
Tax Max's comprehensive approach consists of four distinct programs, each now enhanced with new features for the upcoming season:

Q1 "File & Drive" Sales Event
The cornerstone program allows dealers to place a Tax Max banner ad on their website, enabling customers to file their tax returns directly through the Tax Max app. The refund is then directed to the dealership first to assist with down payments. This season's enhancement includes automatic lead generation—when a customer begins the filing process, Tax Max sends a notification directly to the dealer's CRM system.

4th Quarter Pre-Season Program
Dealers can begin selling vehicles as early as November and December by leveraging customers' anticipated refunds. New for this year, Tax Max will assist with payment collection, and dealers can now text a twominute Tax Max SecureClose video directly to customers' phones for convenient viewing.

Collections Program
In a significant expansion, Tax Max now enables collections teams to reach various customer segments—including past due accounts, repair notes, repossessions, and recovery accounts—through text and email. These communications include a link allowing customers to file their taxes with Tax Max and direct refund payments toward their outstanding balances. The company is preparing to announce a new product in partnership with Blytzpay.

Tax Season Consulting Groups
Perhaps the most comprehensive new offering, Tax Max now provides full tax season management consulting through weekly Zoom sessions. Beginning Tuesday, November 4 at noon EST and continuing every Tuesday until the IRS releases refunds in March, these 30-minute meetings cover weekly action items for sales, collections, advertising, and strategy. Topics include navigating government shutdowns, designing incentive plans, and implementing tactical approaches to maximize results.

An Extraordinary Opportunity on the Horizon
With recent tax law changes under the Big Beautiful Bill, Tax Max forecasts substantial refund increases for potential car-buying customers, with many refunds projected to range from $5,000 to $15,000. William J. Neylan III, President and CEO of Tax Max, compares the upcoming season to the COVID-era when refunds reached unprecedented levels. "This tax season will provide a huge refund surge for our dealers," Neylan emphasizes, stressing the urgency for dealers to develop comprehensive tax season strategies now.

Early Access to Refund Money
Tax Max's Refund Advance product provides dealers with access to customer refunds as early as January 2. Once customers receive their W-2 forms, Tax Max can file returns directly with consumers and provide same-day Refund Advance funds to the dealership—weeks before the IRS would fund it. This allows dealers to be first in line to help tax refund customers and extend their tax season sales opportunities, creating a powerful advantage.

The Bottom Line
Tax season remains a vibrant and profitable opportunity for automotive dealers, yet many struggle to adapt to its current landscape. With 31 years of experience, Tax Max offers proven programs and strategies to help dealerships thrive during this critical period. The company encourages dealers uncertain about their approach to reach out for a no-cost consultation to address specific issues and hesitations—a conversation that could translate into thousands of dollars in revenue.
